Kiswahili in Kenya series part 5/5

Issued on:

Young people in Kenya, especially in Nairobi, have over the years developed their own version of Kiswahili that is known as Sheng. The majority of Kenya's urban youth mostly use Sheng to communicate with each other. Both the government and corporate sector are finally catching up and beginning to take this version of Kiswahili seriously. RFI visited the strongholds of Sheng in the Eastern part of Nairobi.
