TGV, Eurostar unaffected by French rail strike
France's TGV and national train services were running almost normally despite a national one-day strike by railworkers on Wednesday, the SNCF rail service announced. Unions are protesting at a plan to open passenger services to competition.

The Eurostar, Thalys and Lyria links to Britain, Germany, Luxembourg and Italy were unaffected by the strike, as was the TGV national high-speed network, according to the SNCF.
And traffic was almost normal in the Paris region, with minor disruption on some suburban lines.
But the strike hit some regional services with only a quarter of trains between Marseille and Nice running, one in three between Marseille and Toulon and three out of five between Marseille and Lyon.
The strike was due to end at 8.00am on Thursday.
Unions are trying to prevent a plan to liberalise passenger services in 2019.
They fear that safety will suffer and unprofitable lines will be threatened.
