New ticket tax in France could fund new express rail to airport Charles de Gaulle

An express rail service linking Paris to Charles de Gaulle airport is close to getting underway and may be funded from new taxes on airline tickets, according to the country’s transport ministry.

Frederic Cuvillier said to French newspaperLe Figaro that about 400 million euros out of the total 1.7 billion euros needed for the “CDG Express” could come from a new ticket tax, and added that a decision would be made in the next couple of weeks.

The project’s backers, including the state-owned ADP Paris airport operator and three public transportation companies, hope to complete the project within the next decade.
