Hamilton, who started second on the grid, outlasted pole sitter and championship rival Nico Rosberg, who had to remain content with second place.

Hamilton overtook Rosberg on the very first corner after the start and never lost the lead. Though Rosberg cut down the lead in the final few laps of the race, Hamilton always had the race under control.

Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo finished third after edging out Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel by just half a second after an intense duel. The most interesting battle was for the fifth place between Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.

The duo were separated by less than a second for the final quarter of the race. Despite being on quicker tyres, Raikkonen failed to overtake the Dutch teenager.
Fernando Alonso finished seventh ahead of Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Botas and Niko Hulkenberg.

Hamilton now leads the championship ahead of Rosberg by six points with 10 races to go in the season.
