Hamilton, who started from pole position, finished ahead of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen and Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.

The win in Bahrain has meant that Hamilton has finished first in three of the four races this season so far. He now comfortably leads the championship standings by 27 points over Rosberg.

Though the weekend was once again dominated by Hamilton, the star of the race was Raikkonen who drove brilliantly to finish just three seconds behind the British driver.

Raikkonen, who was in third place with just two laps left, got ahead of Nico Rosberg after the latter suffered a braking problem on the penultimate lap.

Valtteri Bottas of Williams finished fourth after seeing off a late surge from Sebastian Vettel.

Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull finished sixth ahead of Frenchman Romain Grosjean of Lotus and Sergio Perez of Force India.

Daniil Kvyat in the second Red Bull finished ninth ahead of Felipe Massa who finished in the last points' winning place.
