The British driver beat Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari and his teammate Nico Rosberg at the Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday.

Hamilton, who leads the championship standings after three races, drove a perfect final lap right at the end to beat Vettel by 0.411 seconds.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen will start fourth followed by the Williams duo of Valteri Bottas and Felipe Massa. Daniel Ricciardo, Nico Hulkenberg, Carlos Sainz and Romain Grosjean complete the top 10.

McLaren had a mixed bag. While Fernando Alonso managed to qualify in 14th place – the first time that a McLaren car has managed to get out of Q1, Jenson Button couldn't clock a lap because of a failure that brought his car to a halt and ended his qualifying session.

The British driver starts last in Sunday’s race.
