For two years now Syria has been deadliest country to work as a journalist, made worse by around 60 kidnappings of journalists in 2013. In the past few months, extremist groups rising in power have begun to turn their attention to journalists, making the situation even more dangerous. For those committed to reporting, staying inside the country is becoming less and less of an option. Many of those journalists who have decided to leave the country have not gone too far, and are now based in neighbouring Turkey.
