OpérActing provides comic opera for all, boosts new talent

By Alison Hird

OpérActing aims to bring back the original spirit of opera: cheap musical entertainment accessible to everyone. Its founder Alexandre Camerlo talks to RFI about the joys and challenges of producing two free shows a year, the latest of which was Jacques Offenbach's comic opera Croquefer, or the Last of the Paletins, performed with gusto at Paris's Theatre Déjazet.

Cast: Claire-Élie Tenet, Sébastien Obrecht, Xavier Mauconduit, Pierre Girod, Bruno Putzulu.

Savitri de Rochefort directs the nine-piece Zoroastre ensemble.
