French Catholics use social media to preach, organise

Issued on:

Catholics around the world this week have been marking the first anniversary Pope Francis' election. The Pope himself marked his first year in service on Twitter, the micro-blogging site, with a Tweet. French clergy have also started going online, including Bishop Hervé Giraud, who tweets a daily homily. And French Catholics, spurred to action against France's gay marriage law last year, have depended on the internet to organise protests and grow their movement.
