Repair Café: Free meeting places to repair things together

Issued on:

France produces over a billion kilos of electronic waste each year, or an average of between 14 and 24 kilos per person. The waste is made up of computers and mobile phones which end up in landfills added to household appliances, including ovens and hair driers. Many of these items could be repaired, but most of the time this is more expensive than the cost of a new item. However, some people are trying to harness the power of social enterprise to change this. In a ‘Repair Café’ in Paris, people can try to bring life back to their broken household objects.
