France's liquid gold? used cooking oil becomes big business

Used cooking oil - the stuff left over in the fryer after you make chips or samosas – is big business. Companies like Ecologic'Oil collect and filter it, and sell it off to be converted into biodiesel, which is added to diesel at the pump. Increased demand for the raw material has fuelled competition, and people have been arrested for cooking oil theft in the US and China. The situation is not as cut-throat in France... yet.
