Hollande calls for end to Israeli settlements

French President François Hollande called for a complete halt to construction of Jewish settlements on land the Palestinians want to include in a future state after meeting his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. The call was a lot blunter than remarks made during Sunday's meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres when Hollande called for "gestures" on settlements  to advance peace negotiations. Palestine National Council member Zuhair Sanduka comments.
