Today 9 July, marks the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to the French Muslim Council, although the Paris mosque disagrees with the council's decision, for the first time in France, to fix the date in advance instead of the tradition of gazing at the sky to determine the correct phase of the moon.
