Chinese actress Zhao Wei owner of a Saint-Emilion château, welcomed by Bordeaux winemakers

Yesterday a famous Chinese actress and new chateau owner was welcomed as a member of an exclusive French society near Bordeaux steeped in the French winemaking tradition. But there’s been controversy over the number of chateaux bought by Chinese investors - at least 23 chateaux in the Bordeaux area alone between 2008 and the start of this year. The decision to welcome actress Zhao Wei was made with money in mind. As RFI found out, the parade was a grand affair.
