Noriega trial opens in Paris

Issued on:

The former dictator of Panama, Manuel Noriega, went on trial in Paris on Monday, accused of laundering drug money in French banks. A guilty verdict could land him in prison for another ten years, after he spent nearly two decades in a Miami jail. Noriega, who was extradited from the US to France in April, claims the money came from his family and the CIA.
