Turkey's largest dam remains controversial

Issued on:

Turkey is completing work on its largest dam project, which the government says will provide water, energy and security in the southeast. However, the highly controversial project has drawn fire over its ecological damage and the destruction of a 12,000-year-old city on the banks of the Tigris River. This week, activists from South America and Kenya joined demonstrators to protest the construction.
