Seven people injured in Spain's bull run

Seven people were injured in the traditional running of the bulls at Spain’s San Fermin Festival on Wednesday. The bulls trampled and knocked over runners on the second to last run of the festival in Pamplona.

A half-tonne bull broke away from the pack during the final stretch, striking one of the runners in the back and knocking him to the ground.

The six bulls completed the 846.6 metre run in just two minutes11 seconds, the fastest time of this year’s festival.

Crowds from the around the world lined the route to watch the run.

Every year around 300 participants are injured, only three percent seriously. The last death occurred two years ago when a 27-year-old Spaniard was gored to death in front of hordes of tourists.

The final bull-run will be held on Thursday on the last day of the festival.
