Sensational win for Wales over England at Twickenham

The much awaited “Pool of death” game between Wales and England Saturday resulted in the Welsh beating the Brits on their own turf, with a stunning 28-25 victory.

It was not easy at first for Wales as the team struggled with scrums and lineouts and that helped England take the initiative in the first half. But Wales fought back in the second half.

Fly half Dan Biggar kicked three penalties and George North had a spectacular run that England struggled to control. On the hour, Wales were pressing just 22-18 down but suffered crushing several injury blows throughout the game.

Wales captain Sam Warburton said the Pool A clash was one of the greatest results of his career.

"It was two evenly matched sides and I always knew there would not be more than seven points in this match and it was going to go to the wire," the flanker said after the match.

"Fair credit to England they threw absolutely everything at us. They played really well we really had to be at our best in defence.”

England must now beat world number two side Australia in their next game with coach Stuart Lancaster saying he was "gutted" by the defeat after establishing a comfortable lead.

In other Pools, South Africa hit back following their shock defeat to Japan a week ago, and won 46-6 against Samoa Saturday. The win put South Africa on top of Pool B with seven points from two games.

However, Springbok skipper Jean de Villiers has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a fracture to his jaw, sustained in Saturday’s game, an injury coach Heyneke Meyer described as a massive blow to the team.
