Lyon dims its Festival of Lights amid France's energy crisis
Let there be (a little less) light in Lyon. The French city is lit up this weekend for its annual Fête des Lumières, or Festival of Lights, which takes place every December. This year, however, the city has opted for energy-efficient LED bulbs to save electricity amid a European power crisis. Thirty light installations have been commissioned for the event, which runs from 8-11 December, and organisers say the total electricity bill will only run to €3,500.
