Brittany Ferries strike ends
A 10-day strike at the Brittany Ferries company ended early Monday morning after workers accepted an agreement in a phone poll. Unions signed the deal a 3.00 am French time.

Nine hundred of the company’s 1,300 employees who are not ship’s officers voted and 56.68 per cent accepted the deal struck after being invited to cast their votes by telephone.
Brittany Ferries’ services from Roscoff in Brittany to the UK, Britain, Ireland and Spain were expected to return to normal on Monday.
Two unions, the CGT and the CFDT, refused to sign an agreement on Wednesday, claiming that bosses were issuing an “ultimatum” and had instituted a “lock-out” on 21 September when management stopped all of the company’s eight ferries running following a one-day strike by workers.
The company refused to attend a round-table organised by the French transport ministry on Friday.
The strike was against the company’s plan, announced in June, which was a response to losses of 70 million euros.
