France honours Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai
France on Wednesday honoured Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education.

Her father, Ziaudin Yousafzai, received France's Simone de Beauvoir Prize for Women's Freedom on her behalf.
In his acceptance speech, he said the Taliban were fighting a lost cause and must accept peace talks, adding that the whole world rose up to support his daughter.
Last week Malala Yousafzai was discharged from a British hospital and is awaiting reconstructive surgery on her skull.
In October she was shot in the head by a Taliban hitman as her school bus made its way through the town of Mingora in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.
