On Wednesday, the leader of the anti-immigration Front National held a “quick, private meeting” with Republican party presidential hopeful Ron Paul who had earlier cancelled the appointment due to a clash of engagements.

She also went to the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund which she accused of ‘starving the people”.

A lunch hosted by Le Pen at the United Nations on Thursday drew a number of diplomats including the deputy ambassador for Japan, Kazuo Kodama, Uruguay’s envoy Jose Luis Cancela and Armenia’s Garian Nazarian.

It was also briefly attended by Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Ron Proser. Le Pen said she hoped Proser’s presence had proved that the party had moved on from incendiary remarks made by her father Jean-Marie Le Pen about Nazi gas chambers.

But Israel’s UN mission said Proser had gone to the event through a misunderstanding.

On Friday, Le Pen will travel to Florida to meet several American businessmen.
