Issued on:

Burkina Faso is the third African country, after Egypt and South Africa, to commercialise genetically modified cotton in 2008. But that has not kept prices from dropping. The country's nascent organic cotton industry started only a few years ago. International companies continue to be interested, but local artisans are also trying to convince consumers that organic cotton is the way forward.
