Twenty-two drown as Egypt ferry capsizes

More than 20 people drowned when a bus on a ferry fell into Egypt’s Nile River on Friday. The bus plummeted into the river after the ferry crashed into the shore. Police officials said the bus was carrying 32 passengers who were on their way to visit a graveyard.

The official MENA news agency put the death toll at 22. Police told the AFP news agency that the remainder of the bus’s passengers survived, although state television reported that rescue workers were still looking for more victims.

A similar incident took place last year when five people drowned after their ferry capsized in the Nile in the suburbs of Cairo.
