Fabulous news! We have a shortwave frequency again! It’s 13725 kHz on the 22m band, and you can hear us between 6.00 and 7.00 UT every day. We’ve had reception reports from Algeria, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Cuba, Denmark, India, Indonesia, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and the US, and although the frequency is “aimed” (or however that works) towards the African continent, give it a try. You never know … and be sure and send us your reception reports. Maybe we can get more time, which would be wonderful.

This week’s quiz: On 12 September, I asked you a question you could only answer if you listened to that week’s excellent Spotlight on Africa feature, which was written and produced by Daniel Finnan. That week, Daniel profiled Sawa shoes, a brand of sneakers made in Africa, which the Paris department store BHV had just added to their shoe department. SAWA shoes are manufactured in Ethiopia using locally sourced materials, but they started manufacturing in another African country. And that was my question … which African country? In which African country were SAWA shoes originally made, before they moved the factory to its present home, in Ethiopia?

The answer is: Cameroon.
