Culture in France

Tomorrow's circus tested in Paris

Issued on:

As French people feel the pinch, they're choosing cultural outings carefully. Museums are continuing to draw in large crowds, as are the performing arts. And circus arts in particular. Circus has evolved enormously over the last decade. Lion-taming and swinging trapeze have given way to theatre and story-telling. And the future names to watch will often have come through the doors of Cirque de demain (circus of tomorrow) - the world's largest circus competition for under-25s, held last weekend in Paris.
