France backs right to peaceful protest in Hong Kong
France declared on Tuesday that it was following events in Hong Kong attentively and stressed its respect for the right to protest peacefully.

A spokesperson for the foreign ministry also appealed to French citizens in the area to be aware of the protests and show caution in central areas.
He strongly advised them to avoid to avoid large gatherings.
Tens of thousands of protestors have been crowding into the streets since Sunday, calling on Beijing to introduce reforms.
On Tuesday Hong Kong authorities received the support of Beijing in opposing “illegal activities” linked to the demonstrations.
Meanwhile Hong Kong demonstrators on Tuesday rejected demands to immediately end rallies.
Protest leaders are confident they can muster massive crowds overnight and into Wednesday for the National Day public holiday, which this year marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of Communist China.
