Commonwealth hits human rights controversy in Sri Lanka

Issued on:

The Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (Chogm) opens on Friday in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The leaders of Canada, India and Mauritius will not attend the meeting after pressure from human rights groups that are angry with the way Colombo ended a four-decade war in the Tamil-majority north in 2009. Activist Sanjana Hattotuwa discusses the Commonwealth meeting and the human rights situation on the ground.
