Fish farms in New Orleans

Issued on:

In April 2010, a massive explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico killed 11 men and sent millions of gallons of oil gushing into the Gulf. The Vietnamese community in the New Orleans area was hit hard by the oil spill because many Vietnamese work in fishing and fishing-related areas. Even before the oil disaster, some in the community were concerned about decreasing fishing stocks. One group has started combining fishing and farming.
