Taiwan busts huge drug-smuggling ring
Taiwan has busted a huge drug-smuggling ring, responsible for shifting 50 million euros-worth of narcotics into across the Asia-Pacific region. The group is accused of smuggling hundreds of kilogrammes of ecstasy and amphetamines from Hong Kong and China to Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

A total of nine suspects have been arrested, including the suspected leader, 40-year-old Fan Chu-lin, the Criminal Investigation Bureau said.
"This is definitely one of the largest smuggling rings to be uncovered in many years," bureau official Yang Ming-chang told the AFP news agency.
The ring, which operated for 10 years also smuggled large amounts of marijuana from Thailand and Holland into Taiwan.
If convicted, Fan could face at least 20 years in jail.
