Thirty-six dead in Japan heatwave
A heatwave in Japan has claimed four lives Thursday and 36 since the start of July. The temperature has risen above 35°C for three consecutive days, as use of air-conditioners is limited to reduce electricity consumption.

More than 900 people have been hospitalised this week as temperatures soar, following the 11 March earthquake and tsunami and recent disastrous floods.
More than two-thirds of Japan’s nuclear reactors are offline following the world’s worst nuclear accident in 25 years at the Fukushima Daiichi plant.
Since the start of July, more than 21,000 people have been hospitalised with heatstroke symptoms and 32 have died, according to data from the Fire and Disaster Management Agency.
