At least 11 killed, 50 wounded in Afghan anti-Nato protest
At least 11 people have been killed and more than 50 others injured in demonstrations in Afghanistan. The protests erupted over the deaths of four people in a Nato raid, officials said Wednesday.

The demonstrations took place in Taloqan, capital of the northeastern Takhar province, after international Nato-led forces said they killed four insurgents, including two women, in an overnight raid in the town.
The protesters said those killed were civilians.
The Isaf international force in Afghanistan said that the overnight raid targeted a house in Taloqan which was being used as a base by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU).
It said that one of the women had an AK-47 and the other a pistol, which she used to fire at the attacking forces.
Provincial officials confirmed that the raid took place but refused to comment on whether the casualties were civilians or combatants.
The north of Afghanistan is relatively free of Taliban influence and has been more peaceful than the south and east.
But violence has increased in recent years. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Hez-e-Islami has been active in the region and Afghan and Nato forces say the central Asian groups, such as the IMU, have a presence there.
