At least 14 dead in bomb attacks on dog fight
At least 14 people were killed by bomb blasts in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Sunday, as two explosions hit a crowd of people watching a dog fight. Five police officers were among the fatalities.
Issued on:
The bombs went off in Arghandab district, on the outskirts of Kandahar city.
One was planted in the middle of the crowd and the other on the side of a nearby road, according to officials.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing, but the Taliban - which considers dog fighting un-Islamic - has carried out similar attacks in the past.
In February 2008 a suicide bombing killed more 100 people gathered at a dog fight, also in Kandahar.
