The US has been putting Asia high on its agenda recently, and this week we saw that in action, with a focus on the Korean peninsula and Pakistan. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced sanctions against North Korea this week, ahead of an Asia-Pacific security conference that she attended in Hanoi. At the beginning of the week she announced development projects in Pakistan, while Richard Holbrooke, the US envoy to the region, quelled concerns from neighbouring India that Pakistan was gaining too much influence.
