This week cities across the globe are celebrating with Carnivals. The party has roots in the Catholic tradition of Lent. In Latin America, Carnavale has a special resonance and Mexico is no exception. While the country has been plagued by battles relating to drug cartels in the north, there are pockets of calm like the Baja California peninsula.
