In yesterday’s report on industrial fishing in African waters, we heard about countries like Kenya, trying to fight illegal fishing.But sometimes even the boats that are registered to fish, cook the books and alter the amounts of fish they are actually catching.

A recent study reveals that unreported catches have a heavy toll on fisheries in East and West Africa.

A large number of vessels report catching far less than they actually do. And that leaves coastal states shortchanged.
