For centuries, intricate handicrafts have found a production base in Morocco and today over a fifth of the population still make their living this way. The government recognise the importance of this 1.35 billion euros industry and a Ministry of Handicrafts works to expand this recognisable part of Moroccan life and culture, though some fear such interference could irrevocably change the long traditions of artisanal work.
