Tunisia has been in the news twice this year because of terrorist attacks which have killed more than 60 people. An estimated 3,000 Tunisians have gone to fight jihad with the Islamic State armed group in neighbouring Libya, making it the country to have exported the most foreign fighters, by some estimates. Yet since its revolution in 2011, Tunisia has managed to adopt one of the most progressive constitutions safeguarding its secularism. So why has this Islamist fervor come to the forefront and what can be done about it?
