Kiswahili literature is widely read and poetry widely recited in Kenya's learning institutions. National High School examinations always feature test questions on different Kiswahili literary novels every year. Similarly, national Kiswahili poetry competitions are held yearly with winner feted with luncheons at the Presidential State House. RFI met some of the ordinary people who are on the forefront of popularising Kiswahili literature and poetry.
