Secret files from the era of British colonial rule have been released by the British government, one year after they came to light in a High Court challenge to have them disclosed. The secret documents, originally thought to be lost, cover controversial issues, such as the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya. A legal challenge by four Kenyans who are seeking to bring the British government to justice was pivotal in bringing about the release of these documents.
