Wiki quests for Africa content

By Emmanuelle Landais

Of the millions of subjects you can read about on Wikipedia, Africa gets the least coverage.

According to Wikipedia this is mainly because many people don’t know that they can donate their images, videos and audio to the site.

As an open source encyclopedia, anyone can update entries and upload images to its free library, Wiki Commons.

Every year, in an effort to boost its content from the continent, Wikipedia holds a Wiki Loves Africa competition.

The best photos and videos uploaded before 15 March could win a cash prize.

In Senegal, photographers have grouped together to produce the best entries.
